The First Page
After years of inactivity and grumbling, it happened—I made an author website! I have wanted a space where I can “professionally” talk about my writing and books, but now, I have made the great leap and created my own pocket of the internet just for me. This is a “big light off” household, with warm fairy lights, quiet voices, teddies and a whole library of books. I have tried to clean up as much as I can, but sometimes sitting down for a break results in laying on the sofa until 2am, and that just can’t be helped. So, without further ado, welcome to my author website, Natalie Duckworth! I hope you enjoy your stay.
It’s bizarre—someone else exists, staring at a screen, reading these very words. How did you get here? What lured you to this very page? I will give myself credit, I did spend a lot of time working on this website, but as an unpublished writer, any attention feels tingly! I am positively blushing.
I don’t know much about marketing, but I do have a lot of love in my heart for creating stories. I’m not the fastest reader or writer, but sometimes taking it slow is far more enjoyable than zipping through life to reach the good parts. I promise to try my best to attend to this website, upload my thoughts as often as I can, and slowly slide my work-in-progresses across the table to you before scuttling away in shyness. My writing truly comes from my soul—I have written characters and scenes, only to reread them and see myself in the background, pieces of Natalie drifting across the sentences like steam in a sauna—and I think it’s time to let others see who I am and what I have to offer.
As you may have figured from my dark themed website, I am a horror lover. The eerie, the unsettling, the disgusting yet loveable creatures, they all have a special place in my heart and make me feel… safe. Expect a lot of darker content, but don’t be alarmed! I will put trigger warnings before any upsetting topics. Also, as I try to read widely, I will write about happier, sweeter stuff… like cute ducks!
Thank you for visiting my website, I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun creating it.
